How to check if Uber paid you correctly in Australia

Most Australian Uber drivers never check whether a fare was actually paid at the correct rate. The statement shows a number, the money lands weekly, and the trip is forgotten. But fares are calculated from rate cards that vary by pickup zone, vehicle tier, time window and date — and when the numbers are wrong, the shortfall is silent. If you searched "how to check if Uber paid me correctly", here is exactly how to do it.

Why fares can be wrong

An Uber fare is built from a base fare, per-kilometre and per-minute rates, a booking fee, and a minimum fare — and every one of those components changes depending on where the trip started, what tier it was (UberX, Comfort, XL, Black), and the time window it fell into. Rates also change over time: Australian rate cards changed on 27 March 2026, so the same trip pays differently before and after that date. With that many moving parts, a fare that "looks about right" can still be short.

Manual check: the hard way

  1. Find the rate card that applied to your pickup suburb (not the dropoff) on that date and time.
  2. Multiply distance by the per-km rate and duration by the per-minute rate, add the base fare.
  3. Check whether the minimum fare applied — and understand that on minimum-fare trips, the fare Uber shows you is the documented minimum minus the booking fee, which trips almost everyone up.
  4. Compare against what you were actually paid.

Doing that for one trip is tedious. Doing it for 40 trips a week is impossible — which is exactly why underpayments go unnoticed.

The 30-second check with EarningsPilotAU

EarningsPilotAU maintains a field-captured library of Australian rate cards — verified on the road, zone by zone, tier by tier, including the pre/post 27 March 2026 rate change. To verify a trip:

  1. Open Quick Check and enter the fare, distance, time and pickup area — or use the Trip Photo Scanner to scan your trip screenshot with AI.
  2. The app calculates the verified floor and ceiling for that exact trip.
  3. You get an instant verdict: paid correctly or underpaid, with the exact shortfall in dollars.
Underpaid? Log it to Trip History with dispute tracking, raise it with Uber support with the numbers in hand, and track the dispute through to the outcome. Evidence beats "it felt low".
